Norfolk, VA— SCORE (www.scorehr.org), mentors to America’s small business, in partnership with Canon, introduce a new business planning workshop series to aid start-up entrepreneurs. SCORE is committed to creating 1 million small businesses by 2020 and the SCORE Simple Steps for Starting Your Business Workshop Series helps entrepreneurs test a small business idea and begin to plan a start-up.

This SCORE program includes five, free “Start-up Basics” workshop and four business planning sessions. These workshops focus on the “Business Concept,” “Marketing Plan,” “Financial Projections,” and “Funding Sources.” Each session includes exercises to help the entrepreneur plan for success.  SCORE also includes three (3) free and confidential mentoring sessions as part of the workshop series.

“This series will help entrepreneurs understand the crucial components of starting a business,” says Hampton Roads SCORE Chapter Chair Rod Watson. “Our goal is to help our community grow. Helping small business owners test their ideas and complete some initial planning for their start-up is essential to achieving success,” adds Watson.

Hosted locally by SCORE Chesapeake Economic Development Center, the SCORE Simple Steps for Starting Your Business Workshop Series help entrepreneurs make a smart start. “At the end of the five workshops, attendees will have a solid understanding of start-up basics, marketing strategy, and financials,” says SCORE CEO Ken Yancey. He adds, “This is a blended learning model bringing workshops, learning exercises and mentoring to entrepreneurs in a one-stop training program to help entrepreneurs make a smart small business start.”
